Mind Your Own Business

I enjoyed significant success in the corporate world by pushing myself to get better and better at what I did.  Those were the rules of the game and this definitely became my mindset. Set objectives, work super hard to exceed them, measure progress, highlight the weakest points, and write new objectives to improve on these.  Rinse and repeat. And then somewhere along the way, organizations started to consider the opportunity to focus on team members strengths instead! How different would the world look if we spent more time in life doing the things we excel at?  Of course this does not mean ignoring areas requiring improvement but let's face it by the time you get to adulthood we are all good at certain things and struggle with others. So instead of trying to get marginally better in areas of weakness, we can choose to spend our time leveraging our gifts to the world!  Extrapolate that out and you can see how much stronger our economy and world could be if we were always leveraging our strengths!

After exiting the corporate hamster wheel in favour of finding more balance at home with my family I consciously began my spiritual journey.  True to my nature I set objectives, started working hard to achieve them, recognized where I needed help and got it. I took my need to control "performance" to new heights when I became troubled that "my team" - those nearest and dearest to me couldn't keep up (at least in my opinion).  Why weren’t they keeping pace? They had alot of work to do!

Therein lies the sheer beauty of the spiritual undertaking! The answers I got back changed my life. “Mind your own business Jess!” is one of the themes that was transmitted to me. Easy to say; not so easy to do.  But doable it is.  And it starts with getting up every day and reminding yourself that you have work to do.  You are a work in progress - we all are. When you are still and willing to reach deep inside, opportunities arise to contemplate your strengths, be honest about your development needs, and be clear about the steps needed to fulfill your purpose and keep the development areas from getting in the way.

If you are reaching deep and often enough there's not much time left for worrying about what others should be doing.  The Universe is there for us all and will support the journey for “your team” just as much as it is there for you.
